Abstract

ticale is commonly known as a valuable fodder cereal of high nutritional value. It may also gain in importance as a va-luable consumer cereal, providing valuable protein and mineral fractions. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of production intensity on the macroelements of grains of different winter triticale cultivars under the conditions of 75% share of ce-reals in the cropping structure and cereal monoculture. The stu-dies proved that although the chemical composition of grains is a strongly genetic feature, it also depends on weather conditions, production technology, and the percentage of cereals in the crop rotation. Under 75% share of cereals in the cropping structure, higher contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium were recorded, while under intensive technology, those of nitro-gen and calcium. A more favourable chemical composition of grains (more nitrogen and sodium) was noted for cultivar Alekto, while more phosphorus, at the same level, for Alekto and Cerber. The selection of a valuable cultivar, the use of intensive technolo-gy, and the reduction of cereals’ share in the crop rotation allows improving the chemical composition of triticale grains, and thus improving its fodder and consumption values.
